Hat?

This silly little boys loves hats! He will put anything on His head
and ask, "hat?" Usually, the answer is, "No that is not a hat." For
example: chalk is not a hat, phone charger not a hat, bowls are not
hats, hangers are not hats, the necklace is not a hat, and socks are
not hats!

These photos are of him determined to put on the sock on his head.
He'd start by putting the sock on his forehead. Then he'd pull it over
his head. Finally, he would have the sock streched around the back if
his neck. He would declair at that point "hat!"

Turn the other cheek

Pastor Jon peached on "turning the other cheek"  Ive never heard this before. Have you?

In the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of MatthewJesus says:

You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.
Matthew 5:38-42, NIV
But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.
Luke 6:27-31. NIV

A literal interpretation of the passages, in which the command refers specifically to a manual strike against the side of a person's face, can be supported by reference to historical and other factors.[1] At the time of Jesus, striking someone deemed to be of a lower class with the back of the hand was used to assert authority and dominance.[2] If the persecuted person "turned the other cheek," the discipliner was faced with a dilemma. The left hand was used for unclean purposes, so a back-hand strike on the opposite cheek would not be performed.[3] The other alternative would be a slap with the open hand as a challenge or to punch the person, but this was seen as a statement of equality. Thus, by turning the other cheek the persecuted was in effect demanding equality. By handing over one's cloak in addition to one's tunic, the debtor has essentially given the shirt off their back, a situation directly forbidden by Hebrew Law as stated inDeuteronomy 24: 10-13:

When you make your neighbor a loan of any sort, you shall not enter his house to take his pledge. You shall remain outside, and the man to whom you make the loan shall bring the pledge out to you. If he is a poor man, you shall not sleep with his pledge. When the sun goes down you shall surely return the pledge to him, that he may sleep in his cloak and bless you; and it will be righteousness for you before the LORD your God.

By giving the lender the cloak as well the debtor was reduced to nakedness. Public nudity was viewed as bringing shame on the viewer, not the naked, as evidenced in Genesis 9: 20-27:

Noah was the first tiller of the soil. He planted a vineyard; and he drank of the wine, and became drunk, and lay uncovered in his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. Then Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it upon both their shoulders, and walked backward and covered the nakedness of their father; their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father's nakedness.

The succeeding verse from the Sermon on the Mount can similarly be seen as a method for making the oppressor break the law. The commonly invoked Roman law of Angaria allowed the Roman authorities to demand that inhabitants of occupied territories carry messages and equipment the distance of one mile post, but prohibited forcing an individual to go further than a single mile, at the risk of suffering disciplinary actions.[4] In this example, the nonviolent interpretation sees Jesus as placing criticism on an unjust and hated Roman law as well as clarifying the teaching to extend beyond Jewish law.[5] As a side effect this may also have afforded the early followers a longer time to minister to the soldier and or cause the soldier not to seek followers of Jesus to carry his equipment in the future so as not to be bothered with their proselytizing.

Down on the farm

We went to explore the newly harvested corn feild. While we were
looking for Indian arrow heads and gleaning the feild. Grandpa drove
up to collect a few ears of corn. We helped.

Come to find out, there is a family of bunnies that live under the
ol'junk pile by the barn. Every winter Grandpa feeds them ears of
corn. Suddenly, I now understand why the junk pile hasn't been cleaned
up. ;)

Quarter Horse Congress

We took the kids to Quarter Horse Congress this past week. Erin and I
use to go when we were little and loved it! We wanted to take Beth so
she could see the horse shows and the Queen! We wanted to take the
boys so they could see the big trucks and the horses! They all had a
great time.

For lunch we ordered sandwiches from the der dutchman booth ( since it
was burning down in Waynesville I figured I'd support them) then we
headed for the arena to watch a horse show. I can't remember what we
watched because I was so stressed out! I forgot how absolutly silent
you are in the arena. Guess how quiet we were with two babies and a
five year old? Wyatt yelled at the tractos, Luke screamed for more
food and Beth happliy stomped up and down the bleachers because her
tennis shoes lit up. I think we put on a more entertaining show.

We went through all the vendor booths. I resisted buying cowboy boots
and wranglers for Wyatt. It was tough but we made it. We also were
able to resist buying this adorable 700 dollar tea cup yorkie. Yikes!
But, isn't she a cutie!!!

Maybe next year will be easier with two two year olds and a six year
old...

Wedding bliss

Congratulations to Angie and Steve!

My cousin got married this past weekend and somehow I only took
pictures of Wyatt. It was a truely beautiful fall garden wedding.
Complete with mums and pumpkin decorations.

Wyatt was very happy to have pumpkins to play with. Did you know, if
your one year old, you can sit and stand on pumpkins!! They are so
much fun and just the right size.

On the move

Wyatt is always on the go. Here he is jumping and sliding off the corn
hole boards. He thought they made a great slide.

Happy Anniversary

I have had this idea floating around in my head for over a year. I
wanted to make a Velcro board so my hubby could display his patches.

I went to GoodWill (how I love this store) and found this huge picture
frame. Can you believe they wanted 5 dollars for a metallic gold frame
and a 1970s faux painting of fruit! I was thrilled!

I covered the old picture with a Velcro like material and painted the
frame brown. I was very pleased with my efforts and orginality. That
was until a dear friend pointed out that another friend had just done
this same thing for her hubby about a year ago too! Haha That must
have been were I got the idea in the first place! Oh well, I am still
very happy with the final product and I own Jess a big thank you for
her inspiration. ;)

Airport travel

My little man and I have turned into world travelers. This is the
second time I've flown with him. The first flight he was eight months
and for this flight he was thirteen months. I have decided on a few
must haves for air travel.

First: DopperStopper. If you look closely Wyatt has two
dropperstoppers attached to his car seat. One for his drink and one
for his cheerio cup. He also has a paci clip. My favorite paci clip is
the booginhead paci clip.

Second: the GO-GO babyz car seat stroller adapter. It basically is
like putting your car seat on a lugage cart. It retails for 80 dollars
and even I was willing to spend that much money for this wonderful
invention. However, after a few calls I found it at a used kids
clothing store for 30 dollars! Jack pot!!

Thirdly: A Car Seat protector bag. It's a durable bag that zips over
the car seat. It protects the car seat so it doesn't get all nasty
while on it's little rendevous to baggage claim.

Hope these few tips help. It you have other ideas or thoughts do let
me know.
