Mary graduates from Sinclair

My little sister graduated from Sinclair Community College with her degree in Visual communications. Congrats to Mary and a job well done! I am so proud of her for sticking to it!!
On the way down... Getting her diploma...

On the way back up.... Yippee it all over and Mary is a graduate! Mom, Jim and MaryMary and Ryan. Mary was displaying her cap which was very nicely decorated just like any good VIS grad would do.

3D/4D

I know this is really hard to see and it is probably torture to those of you who really want to see what this little man looks like, but this is the best shot we could get. The sono tech Nora was up in L&D the other day doing a sono on another patient. When I saw her and asked, "Hey, Nora you wanna sono me next?" Now I was only half joking. But, she said "Sure!" I then told her really it was OK and I didn't need a sono and she probably didn't have time anyways. But, she insisted that she did have time and that we could try and do a 3d/4d sono! I was sold!! So after she was finished up with the other lady, we went to the treatment room and she started playing around with him trying to get a good picture. Now he is a little stinker because he loves to suck his thumb and keep his hands either covering his face or right next to his mouth. But, after much persistent and me turning side to side, he finally dropped his hands long enough to grab a few pictures. The cutest thing he did, which we didn't capture, was tilting his head back to take a big yawn! I guess we will have to wait another 6-8 weeks before we really see what he looks like.

Ballet and Beth

While visiting in Ohio I was able to attend the Ballet. This was by far the best Ballet recital I have ever seen! I hope you enjoy it too.

Baby shower gifts

I am not sure or not, but it might be a little weird to take pictures of all the gift you get for a baby shower. But, I was so excited to get everything home and unpacked that I wanted to be able to show my friends that weren't able to attend the shower what all baby mac got. He is so ridiculously blessed. I don't know what else this child could need.....college tuition? I like things nice and clean so I thought this car seat under mat was a must! I also wanted to get a changing pad for the sideboard that I plan to use as a changing table. So, thanks to Dora, Brittney and Nola for their gift card to Babies R Us I was able to get both items for baby Mac.
Yipeee!! The swing! I love it and I owe a HUGE Thank you to Dan and Mindi.

Darla also gave me a gift card to BRU and I was able to get this night sight mirror.
Erin insisted that this was another must have, and I agree. I think it's a good idea to keep an eye on the little man while driving especially for the big move when he is 3-5 months old.

Originally, I registered for the Bentwood rocker. But, upon closer examination and consumer reports I found that this bouncer may fit our lives better. So, I returned the Bentwood rocker from Grandma and Grandpa Bales and exchanged it for this one. Thanks Grace and Warren! (Or, my nieces, mothers, husbands, step-mother in laws parents).

Erin and Beth got baby Mac this cutie frog pod for his bath.

I ended up returning the swing from Stephaine, Kathy and Pat and instead got this Baby Bjorn carrier. I have only heard great things about it and I saw a lady in the airport put her kid in it with one hand. I was totally impressed. (I even told her so) Thanks to Julie C. for the bumbo, I know he will love it.

Look how talented my sister Lorna is! http://doonedesigns.blogspot.com/ She even blogged about the shoes and bibs! Rita got him the receiving blanket and Judy and Ashley picked up a few onesies too.
A few great outfits! Thank you to the Strothers.

Melody picked out a little robe for our little boy! Nancy G. got him a few bibs. Debbi picked out the "I love my grandma" sleeper for Mom. But, I was allowed to bring it home, thanks Debbi.

The bath luve is all the rage, or so I am informed. It is basically a towel you place over the baby so they don't get cold while you bathe them. This baby got two luve from Judy and Ashley, K.K., Kathy Stephanie, Pat and Aubriana!

Cute little outfits from Erin and Ruth.

Kristi Jo, Pat, and Melody picked out cute clothes! This kid has clothes clear up to 24 months.

The preppy look. You know he'll be able to pull it off thanks to Tiff, Debbi and Pat!

Some of the softest blankets! Emma and Anna really picked out some cute blankets and KK hooked me up with the bath towels and wash cloths. I already washed the towels and have them stored in the bathroom. Judy and Ashley got him the green fleece blanket too.

Love, love this bather. We used something very much like this when I worked in the NICU and it works great. Also, Tina recommended it too. I will do my best to keep those ducks in a row, Louise! The little lamb is from Ruth, wrist rattles from Melody and the puppy is from Jennifer and Emma. Jess got baby Mac the wooden croc rattle, isn't it cute!

A little airplane theme thanks to Jess, Jill and Candace. I love target for developing this brand for me. Now if I could only convince them to develop a store in Del Rio. Melody got him the bib.

Bum Genius diapers!! http://www.cottenbabies.com/ to get your very own cloth diapers. Thank you to Lorna and Angie.

Stephanie, Erin and Mom made His Daddy was very happy to see his collection of book. Daddy said, "Well, you know he is going to love books."

More books from Grandma, Betty, and Tina!!

Thanks Rita, I think this is great. If anyone knows how messy my hubby can get while eating, this full body bib is a must have. I am planning on make several more like it.

As if Chris and Mabi haven't already given me enough!

Ruth P. gave the little man these bibs and Nancy Goodman couldn't resist giving us Trevor's old bloomers! I love them!Debbie P. gave me this boppy cover and Kelli M. gave me a few of her favorite things. Debbie R found this great little tikes toy and Beth picked out the airplane sippy for her cousin. Beth also thinks that the baby will call me, "Aunt Leigh Ann" not Mommy.Your know we have to represent! Thank you to Jill and Candace who supplied the OSU outfit and Cora who picked out the Cincinnati Reds outfit. I can't wait to get a picture of Grandpa Eldon and baby Mac together in their matching outfits.

Disclaimer: Not all gifts are pictured and just in case you are wondering, I am working on thank you notes :-)

Baby Mac's Room

I believe I am guilty of causing some confusion. On a previous post I titled it Baby Mac bedding. It is truly only a picture of his bedding, his poor room it still a mess. Here is the current state of his room.

Yes, you can see the amazingly awesome stroller and car seat from Grand-T and just a hint of the crib is in this picture too.

Yippee, the crib came in! However, the screws and finials did not. I was so bummed out! I started to put the crib together and realized I was missing the pieces. I am currently working with the company to get the parts reshipped to me. I'll let you know how it goes. hopefully, baby Mac won't have to sleep in a drawer.

Baby Shower at DABC

I was fortunate enough to be able to go home to Ohio this past week for a baby shower. My Aunt Kathy and cousin Stephaine hosted the shower with a little help from my mother-in-law and grandma Etta. I am so very blessed to have such a wonderful group of friends and family in Ohio. Here are a few pictures from the shower.
The sister shot: Mary, Lorna, Mom, Me and Erin. I am 30 weeks here and Erin is 18 weeks pregnant. We just found out Erin is also having a boy!

The hostesses, Thank you so much! They did a wonderful job, the food was amazing, the cake awesome and they accommodated 45 people on a Thursday evening. And, I apologize again for being late to my own shower. I'll blame my driver! haha

Best cake ever! This cake is from The Cakery. They also made my wedding cake. My favorite flavor is strawberry swirl and chocolate truffle, which this cake had both. I even was able to take some left over cake home with me.

The ladies at the food table.

I had a lot of amazing helpers at my shower. The little girls help hand me presents and helped clean up the trash afterward. It was a welcomed relief that I didn't have to bend over or get up to get the presents myself. Is that lazy or resourceful to use the little girls?

My little helpers! Left to Right: Beth, Grace, Kelsie, Elaine and Maya

My cousin Emma and her Mom Jennifer. Emma was one of my flower girls, she didn't want to help me open presents this time around! Maya, helping out. I think her dolls were helping too.

Beth, determined to the end to help me open presents. She only took time out to throw a fit that Ryan (age 2) was in the girls bathroom!! Oh the drama!

My cousin Chloe was also a flower girl at my wedding. She is much bigger now but was still willing to help me open presents and show them off.

Thank you again to everyone who took time out of the busy schedule and life to stop in and celebrate this little baby boy. We are so very blessed to have you all in our lives and thank God for each and everyone of you. We know that this little boy is well loved and will be surrounded by Godly character as we raise him. Thank you again for pouring out your gifts and love to us and baby Mac.

On the Farm

We have an abandoned calf on the farm right now. Mary has named him Ferdinand because he is a black calf. (She said they name all the black calf's Ferdinand) He needs to be bottle fed two to three times a day right now. And, while I was home Mary and Jim both had to leave early for work. So, I volunteered to find little Ferdinand and feed him. I figured I'd fed plenty of bottles to babies and this probably wouldn't be much different.

It wasn't. Except, for the 4-wheeler, boots and huge bottle. Ferdinand also drank his bottle much faster than any other baby I have ever fed.

Mom helped out too. If you have never heard the story of Ferdinand I've posted it below. Enjoy!!

The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf
Once upon a time in Spain there was a little bull and his name was Ferdinand. All the other little bulls he lived with would run and jump and butt their heads together, but not Ferdinand. He liked to sit just quietly and smell the flowers. He had a favorite spot out in the pasture under a cork tree. It was his favorite tree and he would sit in its shade all day and smell the flowers. Sometimes his mother, who was a cow, would worry about him. She was afraid he would be lonesome all by himself. "Why don't you run and play with the other little bulls and skip and butt your head?" she would say. But Ferdinand would shake his head. "I like it better here where I can sit just quietly and smell the flowers." His mother saw that he was not lonesome, and because she was an understanding mother, even though she was a cow, she let him just sit there and be happy. As the years went by Ferdinand grew and grew until he was very big and strong. All the other bulls who had grown up with him in the same pasture would fight each other all day. They would butt each other and stick each other with their horns. What they wanted most of all was to be picked to fight at the bull fights in Madrid. But not Ferdinand--he still liked to sit just quietly under the cork tree and smell the flowers. One day five men came in very funny hats to pick the biggest, fastest roughest bull to fight in the bull fights in Madrid. All the other bulls ran around snorting and butting, leaping and jumping so the men would think that they were very very strong and fierce and pick them. Ferdinand knew that they wouldn't pick him and he didn't care. So he went out to his favorite cork tree to sit down. He didn't look where he was sitting and instead of sitting on the nice cool grass in the shade he sat on a bumble bee. Well, if you were a bumble bee and a bull sat on you what would you do? You would sting him. And that is just what this bee did to Ferdinand. Wow! Did it hurt! Ferdinand jumped up with a snort. he ran around puffing and snorting, butting and pawing the ground as if he were crazy. The five men saw him and they all shouted with joy. here was the largest and fiercest bull of all. Just the one for the bull fights in Madrid! So they took him away for the bullfight day in a cart. What a day it was! Flags were flying, bands were playing...and all the lovely ladies had flowers in their hair. They had a parade in to the bull ring. First came the Banderilleros with long sharp pins with ribbons on them to stick in the bull and make him mad. Next came the Picadores who rode skinny horses and they had long spears to stick in the bull and make him madder. Then came the Matador, the proudest of all--he thought he was very handsome, and bowed to the ladies. He had a red cape and a sword and was supposed to stick the bull last of all. Then came the bull, and you know who that was don't you? --FERDINAND. They called him Ferdinand the Fierce and all of the Banderilleros were afraid of him and the Picadores were afraid of him and the Matador was scared stiff. Ferdinand ran to the middle of the ring and everyone shouted and clapped because they thought he was going to fight fiercely and butt and snort and stick his horns around. But not Ferdinand. When he got to the middle of the ring he saw the flowers in all the lovely ladies' hair and he just sat down quietly and smelled. He wouldn't fight and be fierce no matter what they did. He just sat and smelled. And the Banderilleros were mad and the Picadores were madder and the Matador was so mad he cried because he couldn't show off with his cape and sword. So they had to take Ferdinand home. And for all I know he is sitting there still, under his favorite cork tree, smelling the flowers just quietly. He is very happy.

Baby girl burp cloths

These are some burp cloths that I made via special request. They really don't take too long to make and I had this material left over from making Erin's apron.
The first one takes the longest to make, and it's probably the cutest too. Those little ribbon tabs are very delicate and I get to practice a lot of patience with each one.
Ric rac is my new BFF! I was super excited when I found this matching ric rac at Wal-Mart. There is a rumor (pretty reliable) that the craft department at Wal-Mart is closing down. Boo, It will be a sad day if that happens. But, for now PTL for Wal-Mart's craft department.

Baby Mac's Crib

I love this crib! For my birthday/Mother's Day gift Hubby decided I could have it!!! So he placed the ordered for baby Mac! The crib is the 3 in One venetian crib in antique white from Bratt Decor. Please don't tell baby Mac that when I picked out his crib it was decorated for a little girl. He'd probably not be happy about it. The crib should be here in another 3-6 weeks, so when it arrives I'll post more pictures!

Baby Mac's Bedding

This is the bedding I found for baby Mac when he was 9 weeks old. We didn't know if it was a boy or girl at that point. So, I thought this was gender neutral enough for either one.
